Description: A digital model of the solar system within Geomview
Long Description: The Orrery is a digital model of the solar system, named for the mechanical models of the same name (often you'll see one with just the Sun, Earth and Moon, as little balls supported on wires). The first such was built for the fourth Earl of Orrery in the 1700s. It includes all nine planets, some of their satellites, and a few recent comets. Orrery is a Geomview module.

If you haven't already installed Darwin Ports, you can find easy instructions for doing so at the main Darwin Ports page.
Once Darwin Ports has been installed, in a terminal window and while online, type the following and hit return:

%  cd /opt/local/bin/portslocation/dports/orrery
%  sudo port install orrery

You will then be prompted for your root password, which you should enter. You may have to wait for a few minutes while the software is retrieved from the network and installed for you. Y ou should see something that looks similar to:

--->  Fetching orrery
--->  Verifying checksum for orrery
--->  Extracting orrery
--->  Configuring orrery
--->  Building orrery with target all

--->  Staging orrery into destroot

--->  Installing orrery

- Make sure that you do not close the terminal window while Darwin Ports is working. Once the software has been installed, you can find further information about using orrery with these commands:

%  which orrery
%  locate orrery
